Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American-British musician and sitarist. She was awarded the British House of Commons' Shield in the year of her youngest and first female recipient. In addition to the nine Grammy awards, she was also the first Indian-born musician to be a presenter and performer during the ceremony live. Anoushka is the new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a student and sister of Ravi Shankar. Born in London, she spent the first few years of her life traveling between London as well as New Delhi. When she was 13 she performed her first performance at New Delhi. When she moved to Encinitas CA in 1999 she received the high-school certificate. The career of Anouskha as a musician and performer is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. Her father has been with her in many performances for many years. She released her debut album in 1998. released Anourag as her first solo record. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. In addition to performing in many of the biggest venues as well, she has an extensive stage presence. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't only limited to music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is still progressing in her career and we can expect many new things that will be coming from this amazing woman. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her youth living between London and Delhi later relocating to California in the state where she attended the high school. From the age of nine she started studying music with her father. She made her first on the sitar four years later during the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka was a part of her father throughout his global tour, gained an impressive quantity of knowledge. When she was in her teens, she played in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. She was the youngest woman to win the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament in recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability in the Asian Arts.
